Jamaat postpones today’s rally in Dhaka

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has postponed its rally, which was scheduled to be held in Dhaka on Monday. 

Matiur Rahman Akanda, Publicity and Media Secretary of the party, made the announcement at a press conference. 

Jamaat will hold the rally at 2pm on June 10 demanding the release of its party chief Shafiqur Rahman and restoration of the caretaker government system.

Dhaka City South unit Jamaat Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul announced the new date of their programme at the press conference.  

Dhaka City South unit Jamaat Secretary Shafiqul Islam Masud, its Nayeb-e-Ameer Helal Uddin, Assistant Secretary Kamal Hossain and other leaders were, among others, present during this time.

Earlier, Jamaat made an announcement to hold the protest procession and rally without police permission in a press release on Sunday.

Police said the party would not be given permission to hold the rally as Monday is a working day.
