8 burnt in N’ganj oil tanker blast, 5 in critical condition

Eight people suffered burn injuries in an explosion at an oil tanker on Shitalakhya river at Rupganj in Narayanganj around 1:30am on Saturday. Of them, five are in critical condition.  

The burn injured are Abdul Mannan Rahad, 23, Md Humayun Kabir, 54, Md Tajul Islam Limon, 24, Md Imtiaj Ahmed, 42, Md Rubel, 38, Md Sohel, 38, Md Nazmul Islam, 33 and Md Rakib.

They were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS). 

Bachchu Miah, In-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said the burn injured were recovered after the incident and taken to the SHNIBPS.

Dr Md Tariqul Islam, Resident Physician of the emergency department of the SHNIBPS, five of the eight injured are in critical condition and the rest three received first aid and left.

He said Humayun suffered 30% burn injuries, Tajul 67%, Imtiaj 30%, Rubel 45% and Sohel 45%.
