BNP leader Chand arrested for death threat to PM

Rajshahi district unit BNP convener Abu Sayeed Chand has been arrested for issuing a death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.  

Police arrested him from the check post of Bheripara intersection in Rajshahi on Thursday morning. 

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Later, a press conference regarding the arrest of Chand was held at RMP Headquarters around 11:45am.

RMP Commissioner, at the press conference, said they conducted drives in different parts of the city to arrest Chand. He was arrested around 11:15am while he was trying to flee the city by a private car. He is accused in four cases.

Earlier on May 19, Chand issued a death threat to Prime Minister at his party programme. Later, a video of his speech went viral on social media.
