The Election Commission (EC) has announced May 25 as a general holiday in Gazipur for the city corporation election.
The EC issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.
Earlier on Friday, Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) banned motorcycle movement for thirty hours from May 23 at midnight ahead of the election.
Besides, the movement of all heavy vehicles - pickup vans and trucks has been banned from May 24-25.
The voting in Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) polls will be held on May 25, Barishal and Khulna on June 12, and Rajshahi and Sylhet on June 21.
Of these, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in GCC polls, the EC Secretary Jahangir Alam earlier said.
