Police have arrested Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Madaripur district unit Ameer in a case.
Abdus Sobhan Khan, 52 was apprehended from Puranbazar Boro Masjid area in the district town on Thursday night.
Additional Superintendent of the district Police (ASP) Md Alaul Hasan said two groups recently clashed in Pakdi area in the town over establishing supremacy, leaving several people, including police, injured. They also vandalized houses and shops.
A case was filed with Madaripur Police Station in this connection, he said, adding that the involvement of the district Jamaat Ameer Sobhan, also assistant principal of Charnachana Fazil Degree Madrasa, was found in the incident.
That is why he was shown arrested in the lawsuit, ASP Alaul also said.
