Metro rail to run from 8am to 8pm from 31 May

The metro rail will run from 8am to 8pm six days a week from May 31.

As per the new schedule, the weekly closure of the service will be Friday, instead of Tuesday.

MAN Siddique, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL), said this at a press conference at DMTCL office on Thursday.

He also said that the weekly closure will be changed from Tuesday to Friday from May 31.

Trains will run every 10 minutes from 8am to 11am (peak hours), every 15 minutes from 11:01am to 3:00pm (off-peak), every 10 minutes from 3:01pm to 6pm (peak), and every 15 minutes from 6:01pm to 8pm (off-peak), the DMTCL boss said.

Metro rail services will remain closed on the day of Eid-ul-Azha, he added.

On December 28 last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s first ever elevated metro rail, setting another milestone in the country's communication history between a span of six-month after opening the dream Padma Bridge.

She opened the 11.73 km part of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 of the metro rail project from Diabari to Agargaon by unveiling its plaque at Diabari in the city.
