A court in Dhaka has dismissed a case filed against former Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokan and six others for allegedly embezzling around Tk 34.89 crore by allotting shops with no design in a market in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order on Wednesday after accepting the probe report submitted by the Police Bureau of Investigation which did not find any proof of irregularities against Sayeed Khokan and others.
Earlier on April 8, PBI Inspector AZM Moniruzzaman submitted the investigation report in the court, seeking the acquittal of the former DSCC mayor and six others.

The other accused are DSCC's former revenue officer Yusuf Ali Sarder, and former deputy assistant engineers Mazed, Kamrul Hasan, Helena Akter, Atiqur Rahman and Walid.
On December 29 of 2020, Delwar Hossain, president of Fulbaria Super Market-2 in the capital, lodged the lawsuit before court against Sayeed Khokan and six others on charge of embezzling around Tk 34.89 crore by allotting shops with no design.
