Police have recovered the body of a madrasa student from a sugarcane field in Sadar upazila of Rangpur.
Deceased Sahinur Islam, 12, was a student of Paglapir Nurul Quran Hafizia Madrasa, and son of Shah Alam, a resident of Haridebpur Gokulpur village in the upazila.
Police retrieved the body from a sugarcane field beside a mosque in Paglapir area on Tuesday morning.
Kotwali Police Station inspector (investigation) Shahinur Alam said Sahinur went missing from Paglapir Nurul Quran Hafizia Madrasa on Monday night.
On the following morning, locals spotted his body in a sugarcane field, and police, later, recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue, he added.
However, seven people were detained in this connection and were being questioned, the inspector also said.
