48 injured in Gazipur dog bites

Some 48 people, including women and children, have been injured after being bitten by dogs in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur.

The incident took place in different areas under Bahadursadi union and Kaliganj municipality from Tuesday morning to afternoon which left locals afraid of dog menace.

Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex's emergency department doctor Zannatul Ferdous confirmed the matter.

She said 48 people, most of them children, came to the facility with dog bite cases from this morning to this afternoon.

A stray dog bit four-year-old Shahin when he was playing in the yard, said his father Jamal Uddin and resident of Chaitarpara village under the municipality.

Abdul Gaffer of Mulgaon village said his two-and-a-half-year-old son Ibrahim was bitten by a mad dog in front of their house gate.

In this regard, Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Assadikzaman said he has no knowledge about the incident and will take necessary measures after talking to locals.
