Fifteen people including workers suffered burn injuries in a gas leak explosion at a garment factory in Gazipur on Monday morning.
The incident took place at Cotton BD Factory of Mondol Group at Dakkhin Jarun area in Kashimpur around 8:30am.
Didarul Islam, Assistant Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The burn injured are cleaner Md Fazlur, 60, Supervisor Sabur, 35, Line Manager Sahabul Islam, 44, Security Guard Chan Miah, 45, Cutting Master Aslam Ali, Md Sohel, 50, Sohel Rana, 24, Alamgir, 30, Tousif, 32, Arif, 22, Abul Hossain, 35, Rakib, 40, Rashed, 30, Rafiqul, 32 and Babul, 35.
Md Abdullah Al Arefin, Sub Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, said a fire broke out at a room of the factory due to gas line leakage and then an explosion occurred. The people, who suffered burn injuries, were sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Inspector Md Bachchu Miah, In-charge of DMCH police camp, said the 15 burn victims are undergoing treatment at the hospitals.
