Producer Rahmat files defamation case against Shakib Khan

Film producer Rahmat Ullah has filed a defamation case of Tk 100 crore against Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan.

The producer filed the case with the court of Dhaka’s First Joint District Judge Masudul Haque on Sunday.

Taking the case into cognizance, the court fixed May 15 for submitting the court fee.

Earlier on April 13, Rahmat filed a defamation case against Shakib Khan with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam.

The court accepted the statement of the plaintiff and asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe the lawsuit.

On March 15, Rahmat submitted a written complaint against Shakib to the Bangladesh Film Artists Association.

He mentioned in the complaint that Shakib raped a female co-producer during the shooting of movie “Operation Agnipath” in Australia in 2017. Later, he fled to the country.

On March 16, Shakib sat with Rahmat at a restaurant in the capital’s Gulshan to settle the matter but they couldn’t reach any solution. Shakib’s ex-wife Apu Biswas and the producers’ leader Khorshed Alam Khasru were, among others, present during this time.

On March 23, Shakib filed a case against the producer Rahmat Ullah with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate bringing allegations of extortion and death threat against him.

On March 27, Shakib Khan also lodged another case against the producer with the court of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Julfiqer Hyat under the Digital Security Act.
