Housewife murder: 2 get life after 28 years

A court in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday sentenced two people to life-term imprisonment for killing a housewife for dowry around 28 years ago.

The lifers are Khaleda Begum, wife of the deceased's husband's brother, and her brother Ruhul Amin, residents of Rajakhali in Chakaria upazila.

Additional District and Session Judge Court-2 Judge Saiful Elahi handed down the verdict this afternoon.

The court's additional public prosecutor Sultanul Alam Chowdhury confirmed the matter.

He said the court acquitted another accused Abdul Khaleque from charges as he died.

The APP said Abdul Khaleque, brother of deceased Rozina Akter's husband, his wife Khaleda Begum and her brother Ruhul Amin brutally murdered the victim for dowry on January 26, 1995.

Later, brother of the victim filed a case with Chakaria Police Station in this connection.
