4 killed as bus rams into truck in Munshiganj

Four people were killed and at least 19 others injured when a bus hit a truck in Munshiganj on Thursday morning.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway at Shologhar area in Sreenagar upazila around 8:45am. 

Of the deceased, three were identified as Saiful, 35, of Sakhipur thana in Shariatpur, Hajera Khatun, 60 and Md Arif Kazi of Naira upazila. 

The injured are Beauty, 25, Tahira, 15, Akash Patwary, 25, Bithee, 30, Arif, 20, Rasel, 25, Chapa, 10, Maria, 1, Sakira, 30, Sultan, 30, Akash, 20, Shamim, 20, Selim, 30, Bashar, 25, Billal, 25, Jannat, 20, Salauddin, Selim, 19 and Arif, 27.

Mahfuz Riben, Warehouse Inspector of Sreenagar Fire Service, confirmed the mater to Jago News.

Highway police and fire service sources said a Shariatpur-bound bus of Padma Travels rammed into a broken-down truck on the expressway, leaving two people dead on the spot and many others injured. The injured were taken to Shologhar Health Complex where the doctors declared two of them dead. From there, four of the injured were taken to Dhaka for better treatment. 

Munshiganj Police Super Mahfuz Al Mamun said four people died in the accident. Of the bodies, two were handed over to their families.
