Four women including a mother and her daughter were killed after being crushed under the wheels of a train in Tangail early Wednesday.
The accident took place at Mirhamjani atea at Salla union in Kalihati upazila around 5:30am.
The deceased were identified as Basanti, Arati Rani Das, Shanti Rani and her daughter Shilpi Rani. They were the inhabitants of Nikrail Das Para area in Bhuapur upazila of the district.
Rezaul Islam, Booking Master of Bangabandhu Bridge East Rail Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Relatives of the deceased said they were going to Salla to receive the Jakat clothes. They were killed after being hit by Dhaka-bound Ekata Express train while walking on the rail track.
Nazmul Hasan, Sub Inspector of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, said the four women were walking on the rail track early this morning. At that time, they were killed after being crushed under the wheels of Ekata Express.
