More than 50 people were injured as a train derailed in Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla on Sunday evening.
Seven boogies of 'Sonar Bangla Express' train veered off the tracks in Hasanpur Railway Station area around 6:30 pm when it hit a parked goods-laden train.
Laksam Railway Police Station officer in-charge Jashim Uddin Chowdhury confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Moukara union parishad chairman Saifuddin Alamgir from the spot told Jago News that at least seven bogies of Sonar Bangla Express train derailed.
No railway officials were seen at the scene and station master Shohag fled the workplace, he said, adding that they in association with locals started the rescue operation.
After giving primary treatment, the injured were sent to Nangalkot Upazila Health Complex and Comilla Medical College Hospital, he also said.
