Dr Zafrullah’s body to be taken to Shaheed Minar on Thursday

The body of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury will be taken to the central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Thursday morning so that people from all walks of life can pay their last tributes to him.

His body will be kept there from 10am to 1pm. Later, his first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan at 2:30pm. And the second one will be held at Gonoshshthay Kendra Hospital in Savar at 10am on Friday.

Professor Altafunnesa, Chairperson of Trusty Board of Gonoshasthaya Kendra, said this at a press conference held at Major ATM Haider Bir Uttam Auditorium of Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital and Dialysis Centre in the capital at 11am on Wednesday. 

Dhaka University Professor Asif Nazrul and Convener of Gono Songhoti Andolon Zonayed Saki were, among others, present in the conference.

Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury died at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital at Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday night. He was 81.

He had long been suffering from kidney disease. He was admitted to the hospital on April 5 after he fell ill critically.
