A top leader of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir was arrested at Hazaribagh in Dhaka on Saturday.
The arrestee is Talat Mahmud Sayen.
ASP Fazlul Haque, Senior Assistant Director (Media) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Sunday.
He said Talat is the top leader of the banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir and a member of its Dawati department. He was arrested in 2015 and freed on bail. Later, he went into hiding and continued his organizational activities.
The RAB officer said, 23 anti-government leaflets, three jihadi books, a computer and two mobile phones were recovered from his possession. A legal action against him is under process.
Talat was sentenced to jail for 2 years in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. However, he was absconding during announcement of the court verdict.
