A court in Dhaka has placed Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Dhaka City North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin on a five-day and seven others on a two-day remand respectively in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Remanded other accused are Metropolitan Jamaat Majlish-e-Shura member Abul Bashar, former Cumilla district unit Bangladesh Chhatra Shibir general secretary Mohammad Yusuf, and supporters Anwarul Haque, Shibir Ahmed, Engineer Md Sirajul Islam and Abdul Hakim Sarker.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi passed the order after police had produced them before the court, seeking a 10-day remand for Selim and 1 seven-day remand for seven others.
Earlier on Friday, the detective branch of police detained them from a secret meeting in the capital and later, filed a case against them with Bhatara Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
