On March 29, one advocate named Abdul Moshiur Maleque filed the case against him with Ramna Police Station over a news report published on the daily on March 26. Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, a cameraman and some unidentified people were also made accused in the case.
Another case was also filed against Shamsuzzman with Tejgaon Police Station in Dhaka under the DSA. A Juba League leader named Syed Md Golam Kibria, 36, lodged the lawsuit.
The case statement said Prothom Alo published a false report on its website and shared it on social media platforms on Independence Day March 26 to confuse people about Independence and Liberation War, question the country’s achievements, and damage the image of the government.
Shamsuzzaman, Savar staff correspondent of the daily, made the report.
