The state on Tuesday submitted an autopsy report of Sultana Jesmin, who died in the custody of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Naogaon, to the high Court (HC).
The report was submitted to the Attorney General’s office mentioning that Jesmin died due to high blood pressure.
It is expected to hold a hearing on the autopsy report today.
Earlier on March 27, the HC sought the autopsy report and a list of the members of RAB who detained and interrogated Jesmin.
A HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Ahmed Sohel gave the suo moto rule taking the newspapers’ reports on Jesmin’s death into their cognizance.
On March 24, Jesmin, an office assistant at the land office in Chandipur union of Naogaon, died after being detained by RAB.
She was detained from Muktir Mor area in Naogaon around 11am on March 22 and her family received her dead body on March 25. She died while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on March 24.
RAB claimed they detained her for interrogation based on the allegation of financial fraud. She died after falling sick.
However, her relatives alleged she died due to the torture in RAB custody.
