23 get death, 6 life in Madaripur murder

A court in Madaripur has sentenced 23 people to death and six to life-term imprisonment in Rajib Sarder murder case.

Judge of Madaripur Additional District and Session Judge Court Lailatun Ferous pronounced the verdict on Tuesday afternoon.

The court also acquitted four accused from the charges, the court public prosecutor advocate Siddiqur Rahman Singh told Jago News.

The condemned convicts are Jashim Hawlader, Monir Hawlader, Sumon Sharif, Sagor Sharif, Hafizul Quazi, Kalu Quazi, Alauddin Quazi, Tushar Sharif, Yusuf Hawlader, Azizul Hawlader, Abdu Hye Hawlader, Abdul Haque Hawlader, Zahirul Hawlader, Russel Hawlader, Raza Hawlader, Kalu Hawlader, Sobhan Hawlader, Rahim Hawlader, Rezaul Hawlader, Shamim Hawlader, Ahad Hawlader, Dalil Uddin Hawlader and Olil Uddin Hawlader.

The lifers are Seken Hawlader, Uzzal Hawlader, Nurul Amin Hawlader, Baki Billa Hawlader, Jamal Hawlader and Rubel Hawlader.

The court sources said Rajib Sarder, son of Enamul Haque, a resident of Charjhautala village in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur, was hacked to death in Harikumaria area under Madaripur municipality on September 1 of 2012.

Later, the victim's maternal uncle Ali Hawlader filed a case against 47 people with Sadar Police Station in this connection.
