Madaripur road crash: Emad Paribahan owner sued

A case has been filed against the owner of Emad Paribahan and some unidentified people over the bus accident that killed 19 people and injured 25 others at Shibchar in Madaripur.

Jayanta Sarker, Sergeant of Shibchar Highway Police Station, filed the case on Sunday night.

Md Anwar Hossain, Officer-in-charge of the police station, said the case was filed against unnamed individuals, including the owner of Emad Paribahan.

The accident occurred due to the mechanical fault and reckless speed of the bus, said the OC.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of Emad Paribahan lost control and fell into the ditch after breaking the railing of Bhanga-Dhaka Expressway, leaving 17 of the passengers dead on the spot and 27 others injured. The injured were recovered and sent to different hospitals in Shibchar and Dhaka. Later, two of the injured died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
