Three people were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup and auto-rickshaw in Bogura on Monday morning.
The accident took place on Bogura-Natore highway at Kundarhat bus stand area in Nandigram upazila around 8am.
The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Hefjul Islam, 45, son of late Abu Taleb of Dampara village in Nandigram municipality, Abdul Alim, 3, son of Tansen Ali of Omorpur village and Rajshahi City College student Minhajul Islam, 22, son of Sakhawat Hossain of Namuit village.
Locals said, the auto-rickshaw was going to Bogura from Nandigram. When it reached Kundarhat bus stand area, a Natore-bound pickup collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw, leaving three people dead on the spot and injured six others.
Later, fire service members recovered six injured people including the helper and the driver of the pickup from the spot and sent to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Confirming the matter to Jago News, Tofajjal Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Kundarhat Highway Police Station, said the auto-rickshaw and pickup are in police custody.
