Rajshahi-Dhaka train service halted as RU students set fire to rail line

A group of students of Rajshahi University staged a demonstration by setting fire to the Rajshahi-Dhaka rail line in Rajshahi on Sunday night, suspending the train communication between the two districts.

They set fire to the rail line beside the university around 7:45 pm, General Manager of Bangladesh Railway, West ASIM Kumar Talukder confirmed to Jago News.

He said four trains were, so far, stuck due to the fire and the train communication will be normalized if the administration gives permission.

Earlier, the students staged demonstrations at the main gate of the university in several phases from 12:30 pm by putting trunks and setting fire to the road over Saturday's clash with locals.
