The deadline for Hajj registration under government and private management has been extended for further nine days to March 16 as half of the quota remained vacant.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan MP said this to Jago News on Tuesday.
Earlier, the ministry in the first phase extended the deadline to February 23, in the second stage to February 28 and in the third stage to March 7.
However, the registration started on February 8.
This year Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, will be held on June 27 (Zilhajj 9) subject to the appearing Moon in the sky.
Now as many as 1,27,198 devotees from Bangladesh - around 15,000 under government management and 1,12,198 under private management - can perform Hajj as per the agreement with Saudi Arabia.
