The authorities of Islamic University, Kushtia have expelled five female students over the torture of a fellow student at a dormitory.

The expelled students are Sanjida Chowdhury Antora (Statistics Department), Tabassum Islam and Muabia Jahan (Finance and Banking Department), Israt Jahan Meem (Law Department), and Halima Akter Urmi (Fine Arts Department).

Of them, Antora is the vice president of the university unit Bangladesh Chhatra League while the rest four are BCL activists. All of them were expelled from the organization, too, over the incident.

IU student advisor Professor Dr Shelina Nasrin confirmed the matter on Saturday.

The five students have been asked to explain why they should not be expelled permanently.
