The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said prompt action on the Kalyanpur den of militants early in the morning had saved the country from a major catastrophe.‘They [militants] were completely prepared to commit any kind of sabotage and our police force successfully conducted the operation. I thank and congratulate them,’ she said while addressing the inaugural of the four-day annual conference of deputy commissioners at her office.The prime minister said nine terrorists were killed, one was detained and another managed to escape.Earlier, nine alleged militants were killed in what police described as ‘gunfight’ during a special operation of the joint forces in Dhaka’s Kalyanpur area early this morning.SWAT, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), detectives and Dhaka police jointly carried out the one-hour operation ‘Storm 26’ from 5:51am in continuation of last night’s raid.
