Student torture: IU submits probe report

The investigation committee formed by the administration of Islamic University, Kushtia into the torture of a student has submitted its report.

The body submitted the report to the office of the university Registrar around 10 am on Sunday.

Sources said two groups raised allegations against each other over the student torture at Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall of the university on February 14.

Later, the university authorities formed a committee on February 15 to look into the matter.

Dr Yeasmin Ara Sathi, one of the members of the committee, told Jago News that they tried their best to investigate the incident fairly and today submitted the report.

Registrar (acting) HM Ali Hasan told Jago News they received the probe report and it will be sent to Dhaka by today to present in court.

Earlier, a female student of Kushtia University accused the university unit Bangladesh Chhatra League vice president Sanjida Chowdhury Antora, her associate Tabassum and several others of physically torturing her.

She alleged they assaulted her in a mass room of Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall from 11 pm on February 11 to 3 am on February 12.
