A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking its direction to launch an investigation into the allegations of MP Abdus Sobhan Miah alias Golap's purchase of nine homes in New York, US.
Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman lodged the writ in the public interest on Sunday, he himself confirmed to Jago News.
Chief Election Commissioner, Anti-Corruption Commission chairman, National Board of Revenue chairman and secretary to the Home Ministry have been made respondents in the writ.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khijir Hyat is likely to hear the writ petition this week.
Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, a global network of investigative journalists, in a report said Md Abdus Sobhan Miah (Golap), a lawmaker from Madaripur-3, purchased a total of nine properties (flats/homes), worth around $40 lakh in New York between 2014 and 2019, but he did not mention the wealth information in his election affidavit.
