Threat of bomb attacks on Book Fair, Police Headquarters

Banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam has sent a letter to the director general of Bangla Academy that threatened bomb attacks on the Amar Ekushey Book Fair and Police Headquarters.

The academy's security officer Mohammad Zahangir Alam filed a general diary with Shahbagh Police Station about the threat on Thursday.

According to the DG, the letter signed by Maulana Md Saiful Islam was sent at about 11 am on the day.

Md Shahidullah, the deputy commissioner of Ramna Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to Jago News last night.

He said Bangla Academy received a letter from Ansar Al Islam and they were investigating whether the outlawed militant organization actually sent it.

However, the letter said two residential hotels at Jatrabari run prostitution in broad daylight. Higher officials of the police were given letters to stop these but no step was taken in this regard.

If the prostitution business is not stopped after receiving this letter, police will be killed bombing at Police headquarters like Pakistan Karachi and bombs will also be thrown at Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
