DITF draws spot export orders worth Tk 300cr

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Tuesday said that the 27th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2023 drew export orders worth around Taka 300 crore while it also witnessed trading of goods around Taka 100 crore.

Tipu also informed that the visitors in the fair increased by 37 percent from the last year as some 35 lakh people visited the month-long fair.

The Commerce Minister said these while addressing the closing ceremony of the DITF 2023 as the special guest at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre at Purbachal in Dhaka. Textiles and Jute Minister Gazi Golam Dastagir was present as the chief gust.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) under the Ministry of Commerce organized the fair.

Mentioning that such kind of international trade fair plays an important role in boosting exports, Tipu said that the export earnings reached $61 billion in the last fiscal year against the target of $51 billion.

He said that a pavilion on Bangabandhu was set up in the fair which had created scope for the visitors and new generation to know about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Textiles and Jute Minister and the Commerce Minister handed over first prizes to some 10 pavilions and stalls in different categories, 2nd prizes to some 13 pavilions and stalls, and third prizes to some 11 pavilions and stalls.

Besides, four firms received trophies in the best female entrepreneur category, three organizations as best electronic manufacturing firms, four firms as best furniture manufacturing and export entities and two firms as innovative product manufacturing organizations.

Presided over by Commerce Ministry additional secretary M Hafizur Rahman, EPB vice chairman AHM Ahsan gave the address of welcome. FBCCI senior vice president Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu also spoke as special guest.
