The metro rail will run till 5pm on Sunday to facilitate the movement of commuters for Akheri Munajat in the second phase of Biswa Ijtema.
Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan, Deputy Project Director (public relations) of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), confirmed the matter to Jago News.
He said, the metro rail will transport passengers between Agargaon and Uttara from 8am to 5pm to ensure the smooth movement of Ijtema devotees.
The rail service generally remains available for four hours, from 8am to 12pm, a day. This is the first time when the metro rail is running for nine hours a day.

The second phase of Ijtema started on the bank of Turag river in Gazipur's Tongi on Friday and is going to end through Akheri Munajat (final prayer) today.
On December 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s first ever elevated metro rail, setting another milestone in the country's communication history between a span of six-month after opening the dream Padma Bridge.
She opened the 11.73 km part of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 of the metro rail project from Diabari to Agargaon by unveiling its plaque at Diabari in the city.
