BNP leaders Salam, Annie released from jail

BNP's Dhaka South city Convener Abdus Salam and the party's Publicity Secretary Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury Annie have been released from jail after one and a half months.

They walked out of Keraniganj Central Jail in Dhaka on Wednesday evening, BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed.

Earlier on December 8, as many as 432 other BNP leaders and activists, including Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokan, BNP Chairperson's Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Bishwas, Salam, and Annie, were shown arrested in a case filed with Paltan Station in capital Dhaka for allegedly planning and instigating attack on police at Nayapaltan.

On the same day, a court in Dhaka sent all of them to jail.

Of them, BNP Dhaka North city convener Amanullah Aman and Swechchhasebok Dal former general secretary Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel subsequently secured bail.
