JSC, JDC exams finally scrapped

The government has finally decided to scrap Junior School Certificate (JSC) and its equivalent Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given consent to discontinue the examinations for class-8 students from this year.

Akther Unnesa Shiuly, Deputy Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division, confirmed the matter in a notice on Monday.

The division sent the proposal to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in December last year.

The government introduced JSC and JDC exams in 2010 and over 14 lakh class-eight students from schools and madrasas across the country participated in the first-ever JSC and JDC examinations.
