Woman gives birth at Agargaon Metro Rail Station

A woman named Sonia Rani Roy gave birth to a baby boy at Agargaon Metro Rail Station in the capital on Thursday morning. 

The mother and her child were sent to a hospital in Dhanmondi. 

According to the source, the woman was travelling with her husband by the metro rail from Uttara station to Agargaon station. Suddenly, she started having labour pain inside the train. When they reached Agargaon station, she was taken to its First Aid Centre. Later, with the help of a doctor and a female member of the Scout, she gave birth to her baby. 

On December 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s first ever elevated metro rail, setting another milestone in the country's communication history between a span of six-month after opening the dream Padma Bridge.

She opened the 11.73 km part of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 of the metro rail project from Diabari to Agargaon by unveiling its plaque at Diabari in the city.
