This year the number of probable Hajj quota for Bangladesh is 1,27,198, said State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan.
He said this in reply to the question from M Abdul Latif during the question-answer session in Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury presided over the session.
The state minister said the number of Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims was 58,628 in 2009 and it rose to 1,25,923 in 2019 but the same declined to 60,146 in 2022 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Hajj quota for Bangladesh is likely to increase to 1,27,198 this year, which is around 148 percent more than that of 2009 and a milestone of success for the government, he added.
