First case of new Omicron sub-variant of Coronavirus, BF.7, has been detected in the country.
Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Director Dr Tahmina Shireen confirmed the matter to Jago News on Sunday.
She said, the presence of the sub-variant was found in the genome sequence reports of one of the four Covid-19 infected Chinese citizens who travelled to Bangladesh from China recently. Of the rest three, two were detected with BA 5.2 sub-variant and another was infected with 5.2.1 sub-variant.
It is mentionable that, this sub-variant has already been detected in several other countries including Germany, Belgium, France, Denmark, The US, the UK and India.
