Youth beaten dead on suspicion of snatcher

A young man was beaten to death in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj district on Saturday night on suspicion of a snatcher.

Deceased Asad, 25, was the son of Joj Mia, a resident of Sendi Madhabdi area in the upazila.

Locals said a group of snatchers stopped traders Rakib, Azizul and Ariful in front of Sendi Madhabdi graveyard on the way to home from a fair in Sonargaon last night.

The snatchers hacked the traders when they refused to give money, mobile and other things with them, leaving the trio injured.

Sensing this, the adjacent villagers managed to catch one snatcher and gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot.

Haizadi union parishad chairman Ali Hossain told Jago News Asad died on the spot when a few hundred people from adjacent villages beat up him.

Araihazar Police Station officer in-charge Azizul Haque Hawlader told Jago News the youth died in a mass beating before police reached there.

Locals said the deceased was a snatcher, he said, adding that police were trying to know whether he was named in any case.
