3 top BNP leaders won’t attend AL’s council

Three top leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who were invited to the Awami League’s 22nd national council, will not attend the event.

Shayrul Kabir Khan, member of the party’s media cell, confirmed the matter around 12pm on Saturday.

He said, the three leaders are outside the capital to attend pre-scheduled programmes.

“Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain is in Chattogram and will attend the mass procession of Chattogram Metropolitan and North-South district units of BNP. Abdul Moyeen Khan will join the party’s mass procession in Khulna while Nazrul Islam Khan will lead the procession in Cumilla,” Shayrul added.

However, AL’s national council is being held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the council by releasing pigeons around 10.30am.
