BUET student Fardin Nur Parash voluntarily jumped into the river, claimed the Rapid Action Battalion.
It came out in the investigation of Fardin's death after considering all evidence, including CCTV footage, and digital footprints, RAB claimed.
Director of the legal and media wing of the elite force Khandaker Al Moin said this in a press conference at its headquarters in capital Dhaka on Wednesday.
Mentioning that the investigation of the case filed after Fardin's body was recovered is going on, he said the investigation officer will conduct the probe taking into account further clues/evidence found over the death.
Fardin voluntarily jumped into the Shitalakhya river from Demra Sultana Kamal Bridge in Dhaka and he went there alone, he added.
Fardin Nur Parash, 24, a third-year student of the Civil Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, went missing on November 5.
On the same day, his father Kazi Nuruddin Rana, a resident of Noyamati area in Fatulla of Narayanganj, filed a general diary with Rampura Station in Dhaka about his missing.
On November 7, naval police recovered his body from Shitalakhya river in Narayanganj.
Later, Kazi Nuruddin lodged a case against Bushra and some unnamed people with the same police station accusing them of killing Fardin and covering up his body.
