Gazette issued declaring 6 seats of BNP MPs vacant

The Parliament Secretariat on Sunday published a gazette notification declaring the seats of six lawmakers of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) vacant.

The six lawmakers are - Md Zahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon-3, Md Mosharrof Hosen of Bogura-4, Gulam Mohammad Siraj of Bogura-6, Md Aminul Islam of Chapainawabganj-2, Rumeen Farhana, MP from a seat reserved for women and Abdus Sattar of Brahmanbaria-2. 

The seat of another BNP MP Harunur Rashid was not declared vacant as his resignation letter was not accepted.

Earlier, five BNP lawmakers went to the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and submitted their resignation letters to the Speaker of the Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in-person.

Harunur Rashid of Chapainawabganj-3 and Abdus Sattar of Brahmanbaria-2 submitted their resignation through Rumeen. Rashid is now abroad while Sattar was ill.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, after receiving the resignation letters, said that Harun sent the resignation letter through email where his scanned signature was used and that the MP would have to submit a fresh resignation letter if he wished to resign from the parliament.
