Moderate earthquake felt in Dhaka, other areas

A moderate earthquake jolted Dhaka and some other districts of the country on Monday morning.

The earthquake was felt at 9.02 am.

No casualties were reported so far.

Nizam Uddin Ahmed, In-charge of Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, said the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.1 on the Richter scale. It is a moderate earthquake.

However, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.2 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10km in the Bay of Bengal.
