A court in Sirajganj on Tuesday sentenced five people to life-term imprisonment in a child murder case.
The lifers are Sohel Rana, Kauser Sheikh, Hiran, Al Amin, and Osman Ali, residents of Chak Makimpur in Belkuchi upazila of the district.
Judge of Sirajganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Mohammad Erfan Ullah handed down the verdict.
The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, and in default, they will have to serve in jail a year more.
The court's additional assistant prosecutor advocate Waz Karni Locket confirmed the matter to Jago News.
The case statement said Imon, the son of expatriate Chan Mia, a resident of Char Makimpur area, went missing on February 15, 2021.
Police recovered his body from a bamboo bush in Maijhail village on February 22.
Later, his uncle Sanoar Hossain lodged a case making seven people accused.
