Bazlur Rahman, the panel chairman-1 of Kayetpara union under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj, has been arrested for allegedly attacking the Rapid Action Battalion.
He was apprehended from Chanpara area in the upazila on Friday afternoon, commanding officer of RAB-1 Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Momen confirmed to Jago News.
The attack on RAB took place at Kayetpara of Chanpara area on September 28 when the elite force conducted a drive there, he said.
According to RAB, Bazlu had been sheltering City Shahin, who was killed in a reported gunfight with the force in Chanpara on November 10, in all his misdeeds.
The chairman was named in a total of 12 murder, arms, and drugs cases filed with Rupganj Police Station.
This reporter of Jago News recently talked to the locals and they told him that Bazlu Chairman, his three brothers and their associates control the Chanpara slum and they are involved in various crimes, including drug dealing and murder, in the locality.
The Chanpara slum, however, came to the limelight following the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Nur Parash.
