Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday urged BNP to stop daydreaming of the restoration of the obsolete caretaker government system ahead of the next general elections, claiming it is in the museum now.
“The restoration of the caretaker government is now a capricious demand. It is in the museum now,” he told the triennial conference of Jhenaidah District Awami League held on Jhenaidah Water Development Board ground this afternoon.
Speaking as the chief guest, Quader said seeing the development of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina government, the BNP leaders are now irritated and they have been conducting a movement to bring the lost throne of Hawa Bhaban back.
He said the BNP has started nomination trade and it also begins a process of making lawmakers by collecting money from them.
Asking the BNP leaders not to cross their limit, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said: “Your (BNP’s ) movement falls flat and you will be defeated in polls too”.
AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif inaugurated the conference, while its joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretary BM Mozammel Haque and executive members Adv Amirul Alam Milon, Parveen Zaman Kalpana and Gloria Sarkar Jharna, among others, spoke at the meeting.
Jhenaidah District AL president Abdul Hai, MP, presided over the conference, while its general secretary Saidul Karim Mintu moderated it.
Later, Abdul Hai and Saidul Karim Mintu were reelected as the Jhenaidah District AL president and general secretary respectively.
