The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, in the case filed over the murder of Biswajit Das 10 years ago.
Khandaker Md Younus Ali alias Younus, 36, was arrested from Kellapur area in Narayanganj on Monday midnight.
RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) ASP Fazlul Haque confirmed the matter to Jago News on Tuesday morning.
Biswajit, a tailor-shop worker, was chopped to death in broad-daylight near Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka on December 9, 2012, during the blockade program called by BNP-led alliance.
On December 18, 2013, a Speedy Trial Tribunal awarded death penalty to eight people and 13 others to life- term imprisonment for killing Biswajit Das.
On August 6, 2017, the High Court upheld the death sentences of two -- Rafiqul Islam Shakil and Rajon Talukder, commuted death sentences of four to life imprisonment and acquitted four from the charges.
Younus had been on the run since his conviction in Biswajit Das murder case in 2012.
