Two people, including a child, were killed as a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sirajganj district on Wednesday.
The deceased were Abdul Malek, 25, son of Abdur Razzque, a resident of Betkandi village, and Yeamin, 6, son of Hossain Ali of Bhadrakol village in Ullapara upazila.
Abdul Malek was taking his sick friend Hossain Ali and his son Yeamin to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Tuesday night, his elder brother Nasir Uddin said.
A truck hit the auto-rickshaw when it reached Kashiahata Bazar on Sirajganj-Kadda road around 8 pm, leaving the latter vehicle's passengers and its driver injured, he said.
Later, locals rushed them to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared Malek and Yeamin dead, Nasir added.
Injured Hossain Ali is, however, undergoing treatment at 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital, Sirajganj.
Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Humayun Kabir informed about deaths of two people in the road accident on Wednesday afternoon.
