Tabith, several others hurt in attack on BNP program in Banani

Several BNP men, including its leader Tabith Awal, were injured as a program of the party was attacked at Banani in capital Dhaka on Saturday night.

BNP Vice Chairman Selima Rahman and Joint Secretary General Moazzem Hossain Alal are among the injured.

Out of the injured, BNP's international affairs committee member Tabith's condition is critical and he was admitted to United Hospital. 

BNP claimed the leaders and activists of Awami League and Chhatra League carried out the attack around 7:45 pm.

BNP media cell members said the party arranged a candlelight vigils program stretching from Banani's Kakoli to Gulshan-2 from 7 pm to 8 pm protesting the unusual rise in prices of fuel oil and daily commodities, and the deaths of three leader-activist of the party in police firing.

But Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League men suddenly attacked the BNP leaders and activists gathered there to join the program, leaving several injured, they said.
