A wanted terrorist was killed in a gunfight with police at Duttapara Bonmala road in Tongi of Gazipur district on Thursday early Thursday.The deceased were identified as Bagha Jewel, 25, top terror at the area and son of late Sentu Ahmed hailing from Brahmanbaria district.Officer-in charge of Tongi Police Station (investigation) Md Aminul Islam said that upon receiving secret information that a team of terrorists were staying at the area, a team of police conducted a drive.Sensing the presence of law enforcers, they opened fire at police, prompting them to retaliate.At one stage of gunfight, Jewel caught in the line of fire and died on the spot.However, his teammates were managed to flee from the scene.Later, police recovered his body and one pistol, three rounds of bullets and several sharp weapons.Jewel was wanted in 5-7 cases filed with different police stations.
