Balaka Blade director Selim sent to jail

Selim Satter, the director of Balaka Blade (Now Samah Razor Blades) Industries Limited, has been sent to jail in a case filed over the recovery of drugs from a flat at Banani in the capital of Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir on Monday passed the order after he had been produced before the court, praying to keep him in prison.

The court also ordered the jail authorities to give him medical care according to prison rules as the defence lawyer, Saleh Uddin, appealed to the judge to treat his client at hospital instead of being sent to jail considering his illness.

Nazmul Hossain Khan, the inspector of Gulshan Circle of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC), lodged the case with Banani Police Station in this connection.

Earlier on Sunday, a team of the DNC on a tip-off conducted a drive in the flat on Bank Asia Bhaban at Road no. 11 of Banani in the capital and detained Selim.

After the operation, DNC deputy director (North) Rasheduzzaman told the reporters that they also seized a huge amount of foreign liquor, MDMA, Cocaine, LSD, cannabis chocolate, Kush, synthetic hemp, and different kinds of idols from the flat.

The official claimed that held Selim used the flat as an illegal minibar where different people would take drugs and sell these but he has no license for drug sale and consumption.

He also claimed Selim in interrogation had told them that he has dual citizenship of Bangladesh and Sweeden, and he had been consuming the seized drugs himself and selling the same.
